Yoga is already celebrated worldwide with every rise of the sun on earth, but this year it will have a special meaning.
The United Nation General Assembly has declared June 21 the International Day of Yoga after a call from the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his address on September 27, 2014 stating “Yoga embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being,”.
On this first-ever International Day of Yoga, whether you are by yourself or surrounded by other yogis, here is how it should be celebrated the yogalova way.
International Day of Yoga the yogalova-way:
1. Sun Salutation
Wake up early and do your sun salutation or your regular practice, drink a glass of water and appreciate life.
2. Subway or Bicycle
Use the train or a bicycle for your commute instead.
Leave your gas or hybrid car home – unless you drive an electric car.
3. Yoga Event
If possible join a yoga public event near you.
4. Compassion
Go vegan the entire day, it will not kill you.
5. Be “Nicer”
We already know you are a nice person to the animals and to the environment, but there is always room for improvement.
Be a “nicer” person by visiting your local shelter and give an animal a second chance and a new home.
Plant a tree or water a flower.
This is how together we will “elevate happiness in the world”.
